A New Year's Resolution You Can Stick To.

Let’s be real, New Year’s resolutions are hardly kept. They are great in theory, but it takes a lot to stick to your guns and make those wishful changes to your life. Some may have the willpower while others don’t. So why not try something totally different and new this year? You’ve tried all the task-related resolutions like trying to quit smoking (which I am going to tackle next year with a little help from Chantix) wanting to work out more, which you can tell many people do as you can see the attendance at the gym increase and after a month it returns back to normal. Maybe this year give your whole life and being a makeover. We’re here with only one chance to make the most of it and what better way to live than happily and healthy! If you’ve never given thought to being a travel nurse, now is the time. Travel nursing can give your life that recharge with opportunities in career and personal growth. Being a travel nurse is great for self-discovery.

Travel nursing is a unique career choice and one that can lead to endless liberation. There aren’t many jobs that can take you to all corners of this country for 13 weeks at a time. Each location you choose can do wonders for your mind, body and soul and each destination can stimulate each facet of your being. For instance, if you took a traveling assignment in New York City, San Francisco, Omaha, or Austin, there you would be surrounded by all walks of life and be exposed to the many different cultures, and languages that inhabit those cities. With all the sights and sounds that each city has to offer you, something is bound to strike you in a way you’ve only dreamt about.

So you’ve been stuck in the same city for years and you’ve got the routine down of what’s available to you according to the seasons. Why not break out of that rut and see what else you can challenge yourself to do. Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn how to surf or hike up a mountain or go deep sea fishing or snowboard down the Rockies or whatever. The only thing holding you back is you. If you want these things, you can have them. Traveling nurses work hard and when it comes to recreation, they play hard too. So why not get out there and try something new, you just might surprise yourself at how capable you really are.

Of course, testing your body to extremes may not be for everyone and that’s okay. Travel nurses have all kinds of reasons for wanting to travel. Stimulation of the mind and body are important, but most important is what’s inside, what drives you to be a better person and care for ill. Nothing can make you as good about yourself than helping those less fortunate. In every city, in every state you will find there are always those in need of a helping h and , outside of the hospital setting. Using your time to volunteer in these places can work wonders for your spirit and rejuvenate your connection to mankind. Also, being surrounded by the many wonders of Mother Nature can also boost your spirits. I know for me, each and every time I’m near the ocean a sense of calm envelopes me and I can feel myself being carried away by the sounds of the waves lapping onto shore. I can sit there for hours, lost in thought… There’s no greater feeling than looking inside yourself and feeling this renewed sense of self. Try it out for yourself, you’ll be amazed with the results, I guarantee it.

While wanting to make changes to the way you live is great, why not think about changing where you live? You just might surprise yourself and unlock something that you never knew you had in you.

May all your troubles last as long as your New Year’s resolutions!

About the Author:

Patrick Fuerstenau here. Born in Kentucky, raised in Germany, landed in Nebraska and still here. I've been involved with Marketing and Advertising for over a decade. It all began with an internship at an ad agency in Omaha, followed by a 9 year stint as a graphic artist at the lone major newspaper in Omaha. A friend of mine told me about an opening at her company and said that it was the best gig she's ever had... So I decided to spread my proverbial wings and see what I could do for them and vice versa. So here I am at Medical Solutions as a Marketing Specialist for a great travel nursing company. This by far has been a major blessing in my life. I love the work I get to do just as much as I love the people who make up this fabulous company. I can see myself here for a long time... As long as they'll have me. Now that we've got the career timeline out of the way... Let me tell you a little about who I am. I am oh so passionate about the game of futbol! I've been playing soccer since the age of 8 and am still playing today. If I couldn't at least kick the ball around, I don't know what I would do with myself. I fear getting old. I also have a strong love for the arts... Music, Visual arts, Film, Design... pretty much anything and everything arty. I'm happy go lucky and am always looking to have a good time. Just ask my manager! And I love writing about travel nursing.
