New (to me) social network for travel nurses

healthcare travelbook logoI’m not sure how new this site is, but I just came across it for the first time the other day and thought I would mention it. Healthcare Travelbook was started by a veteran traveling physical therapist and his wife, but is open to all kinds of healthcare travelers and people associated with the industry.

It is free to join and appears to be very vibrant (some of these sites I come across look like there has been no activity for months) and has new members daily.

It offers a lot of the st and ard features you would expect from a social network, including uploading a profile pic, updating your status when you log in, etc. It also has some of the same st and ard attempts I have seen from other healthcare travel social networks, like reviews (company, recruiter, facility and location), photo sharing, video sharing, forums and make friends.

The blogs appear to be on an invite basis, so not every user has one, but they do cover a lot of areas so that is good and anyone can comment.

It also comes with plenty of social networking tools like a “Share This” button on many of the pages and the ability to bookmark within the site the things you like.

Healthcare Travelbook also comes with an addicting points system that gives you points for your activity.

The most impressive thing about this site is that it works so smoothly. Some site like these are clunky and you encounter dead links, but not this one. It feels very smooth and that it is well maintained. It also has a great set of community guidelines that I think will help make it a success, as they encourage transparent communication.

I will be setting up a profile there soon, so if you have time on your h and s check it out.

About the Author:

My name is Jeff Long. I’m the Marketing Director at Medical Solutions, one of the leading travel nursing companies. I have never been a nurse and am not a recruiter. I have worked at Medical Solutions for over five years and think it is a great company that has a lot to offer nurses and allied health professionals interested in a travel career. I do post just a small sampling of travel nursing jobs from Medical Solutions, but mostly I write about travel nursing. On this site you will not be recruited on this blog (unless you specifically inquire about traveling with Medical Solutions then I will forward your info to a Recruiter). I understand that you are reading and/or commenting on this blog purely for informational purposes and I want you to enjoy that experience My job is to help you meet your career goals by sharing information, advice and the benefits of travel nursing with you.

Jeff, thanks for the blog about Healthcare Travelbook. I am Wes Herdlein, the founder of the site. I wanted to make one quick correction to your blog: any member can blog on the site except for recruiter members. We restrict blogging by recruiters in order to provide the traveling community a high level of visibility and transparency. As you mentioned in your blog, we are traveler owned and operated and are therefore free of any financial influence of agencies. Our mission is to provide an honest, open, and balanced community for travelers. Glad that you liked it! Come join us, we would love to have you!

Sorry about that. I have a Recruiter account so that makes sense.

I did your like your site and one thing I especially liked was the ability for Recruiters to join without feeling like they are intruding. I think open communication in a group setting between recruiters and travelers can just help the traveling healthcare community as a whole by removing assumptions on both sides.
