"Nurse Jackie" available to watch on YouTube.
The pilot episode of the half-hour dark comedy nurse show “Nurse Jackie” on Showtime is available to watch on YouTube. You can watch the episode in its entirety, minus the explicit language. I’m watching it now as I write this and I have to say, as far as medical centered shows are concerned, it’s not that bad and it doesn’t just deal with extreme medical crisis’ which I hate about most of those shows. The premise of the show is this, a pill poppin’, drug sniffin’, back achin’ nurse who is a veteran in the field is just trying to make it through her days. The episode took some nice twists and turns and there are some ethical questions about her character, but all in all I thought it was original. There is humor, drama and the occasional gratuitous sex scene, no nudity though… It’s definitely a program for the adults. Remember, it’s not reality, it is Hollywood. It’s all about ratings and if those things interest you, then I think you just might like it. So when you’re on your next travel nursing assignment and you don’t know what to do or what to watch, might I suggest this show?
Watch the first episode of “Nurse Jackie” for yourself and let me know what you thought! I’d love to hear what you have to say. The site for nurses NurseTogether.com has a forum with responses to the show. Check them out as well!

I cringed all the way through this show. What were they thinking? Some doped up nurse that is screwing around on the job? No wonder people wonder about the professionalism of nurses. And the use of the “F” word every other sentence… totally uncalled for. This is NOT what professional nursing is all about, and I’ve never seen such a thing in all my years. Makes me wonder what this world has come to. I won’t watch again.
I only watched the first 10 minutes and had to turn it off. It was horrible. I’ve never seen any nursing staff in the hospital where I work behave this way. What a slap in the face to nurses!
I’ve been looking at downloading videos from YouTube, it seems that YouTube and many other social network sites have changed their code in order to prevent certain sites from allowing you to download video content from them; most annoying, is there a foolproof alternative? Anyway, excellent blog post, I found it very insightful.
