Healthy Holiday Tips for Travel Nurses
During the holidays the average American gains about a pound which doesn’t sound bad but the worse thing about that is they usually don’t lose that pound. It can only get worse from there since a person who is already over weight will gain a lot more than just a pound. There are some alternatives you can do to help prevent the gained weight. There is always something that is a better alternative then the high calorie foods, and if you are looking into losing some weight there are a few places to look for moral and mental support.
Appetizers
This is where you can start to get into trouble. Try to stay away from eating too much food before dinner. You would rather eat more dinner and desserts than appetizers.
Dinner
Dinner is actually what you should be looking forward to. Remember to always watch your portions when serving yourself. The less you put on your plate the less you will eat, so only take as much as you actually need. Make sure put some vegetables on your plate, and don’t over load your plate. Consider bringing a dish to the gathering that you know is healthy.
Desserts
Most people have the problem of getting too many sweets when it comes to the holidays, since there are a lot of treats all around you. There are a few options you can do. Pick your favorite one and just eat that or only have a bite of all the ones you want to eat. The goal is not to eat multiple sweets. Another option is to eat the healthiest dessert.
