When you interview for a position you were always told to look your best, well, what if the interview is over the phone? In most travel nurse interviews, this is the case. Although you may not be meeting directly with your interviewer, you can still put your best foot forward. Here are some steps to take before interviewing with a travel nurse agency:
- Be professional. Yes, this isn’t your typical face to face interview, but you still want to make a good impression. Recruiters make their recommendations based on your resume, demeanor and experience. So, make sure to put on your best smile (yes you can tell when someone is smiling on the phone) and act like the healthcare professional that you are. You’d be surprised on how much farther a good attitude will get you.
- Have all your paperwork in front of you. Yes, you may have already sent this in to the recruiter, but that doesn’t mean the facility hiring manager knows it by heart or even has it in front of them for that matter. Having your paperwork in front of you will help provide a quick response to them. Anything you can do to make their lives easier will help expedite the process and get you the assignment you want.
- Follow up with the recruiter after the interview. This always shows that you are persistent and will put you in the forefront of their mind; they deal with and place a lot of nurses throughout the day. It also shows that you are still interested in the position.
