Travel nursing forums: Talk to other other travel nurses

One of the best ways to learn about the ins and outs of travel nursing is definitely through a travel nursing forum. Sure, you can talk to recruiters to learn about the travel nursing industry and they can get you a travel nursing job, but nothing beats the advice and experience of seasoned travelers. Even just reading what others are talking about in a travel nursing forum, if you are shy about joining the conversation, can help you avoid making the same mistakes that other travelers have already made.

Another huge benefit of forums is to learn about all the different travel nursing companies, the benefits and travel nursing pay they offer and the way they treat their travelers out there from nurses who have actually worked for them. You will find some nurses who are loyal to one or two companies and others who have worked for a lot of different companies. Both typs of travelers offer valuable information for any nurse looking into traveling for the first time or just looking for a new travel nursing company to travel with.

At this previous TravelNursingBlogs.com post I listed some of the really good travel nursing forums out there. I am sure there are others out there too and would love to know if there are any more you visit that I should add to the list.

I am in search of a travel contract in the Indianapolis area. I have called or emailed about 15 travel companies all which have NO contracts open in Indianapolis but decide to not share that information until I have jump through many hoops. Does any know of any person working in Indianapolis area with a current contract? And if so do you know that travel company name? I am starting to feel there is no light at the end of the tunnel!

    Please help,
    Holly

  2. I agree. There are plenty of forums and sites out there where you can communicate with other travel nurses. We also offer a blog with advice from travel nurses on our site. Most of our blogs focus about finding travel nurse jobs but there is information there on current events in travel nursing as well. Feel free to take a look.

Just looking for some guidance concerning the travel nursing world. My husband and I want to get out of the cold and are looking for a warmer place to live but can’t decide where. I thought that travel nursing would help us to decide where we might want to end up. Any advice is welcome.

  4. For an update our company covers the state of IN very well South Bend and Annaopolis as well as others. The market for IN has been so depressed I have seen a decrease in orders since Nov. I wish I could say Holly we have opening but that would not be honest. I do beleive as of March we will see more IN. In the mean time we will market the area and see what we can do to provide more positions. I have seen perm but no travel. Warmly Kim Lawrence

  5. The travel market for warmer states like AZ and in FL have had low census issues. With unemployment and hiring freezes and the economy- traveling may have to wait till April 2009- review companies and you can see our ranking on http://www.travelnursingcentral.com/. Be selective in the company you choose there are over 300 companies and things can get confusing- feel free to email me and I will connect you with a traveler to get answers first hand. Kimlawrence@acrossamer.com. Hope this assists you. Warmly Kim

I am thinking about doing travel nursing and I have never done this before. I wanted to know what companies are good from bad ones. I would like to continue my education since I have 24 credits to go to earn my BSN. I work in the OR and live in Pa.
    Any info? Thanks

  8. Where in Texas?? Are you a recruiter for a hospital or a travel nursing agency? I’m considering starting travel nursing after 18 years of hospital and outpatient surgery center. Texas was on my list of places to go.
    Thanks,
