For any nurse who’s every felt underappreciated, Z Dogg MD will see you now!
Dr. Zubin Damania, AKA Z Dogg MD, is a legit doctor and former Stanford hospitalist who collaborated with Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh to create Turntable Health in Las Vegas.
As for his Z Dogg MD persona, you can just consider him the Weird Al of the healthcare world with the many hilarious, healthcare-related parody videos he treats audiences to.
If you’ve ever daydreamed of the disaster that might result when a doctor tries to be a nurse, you’ll love his parody of Macy Gray’s “I Try,” which includes the line: “My ward crumbles without the nurse here!”
On his site Z Dogg MD writes, “I love nurses. Simple as that. Apart from saving my backside innumerable times, they more often than not understand exactly what a patient really needs.”
Check out what happens when Doctor Z Dogg MD tries to be a nurse:
And although he’s a funny man, Damania is very serious about improving healthcare (click here to check out his TED Talk), telling USA Today in 2013 that there are many elements needed to do so. But, at the base of the matter, he said, “ … fundamentally the human relationship is ignored in this system.”
With each funny, outlandish video parody, Damania also includes a quick explanation of the video and the issue related to it. Here are a few more of my favorite Z Dogg MD moments for your viewing pleasure!
