Ask a Travel Nurse: What Opportunities are Available for International Travel Nursing?

Ask a Travel Nurse Question:

Hello, David! Can you tell me what opportunities are available for international Travel Nursing? Specifically, I would like to know if you have any names for Travel Nurse agencies in the United Kingdom. Much appreciated!

Ask a Travel Nurse Answer:

I receive many emails asking for information on international Travel Nursing. However, not having traveled abroad myself, I can only refer people to the resources I know.

While O’Grady Peyton seems to be one of the largest international agencies out there, there are many more, all of which I simply cannot investigate. To find these, I simply typed “international travel nursing” into Yahoo and found a very resourceful page here at Travel Nursing Central.

Linking to the above page directly, you will also be able to access many international companies other than those in the UK.

As for researching the companies and their reputations, that is something you will have to spend some time doing in the Travel Nursing forums. Chat with anyone that is willing to speak with you regarding international travel. My other piece of advice would be to post on some of the travel nursing forums and see if you can find someone with direct experience.

Some good travel nurse forums can be found at ultimatenurse.com, allnurses.com, and the Delphi forum for traveling professionals (go to delphiforums.com, look for the box on the right that says “”Explore existing forums,” type in “Travel Nursing” and the top result is a group called Travel Nurses and Therapists).

Pan Travelers is also another good site with a forum. They have a free section and also a portion where there is a charge to access that information.

You can also join Healthcare Travelbook, which is a sort of Facebook style place for Travelers, which also has a forum.

I’m sorry I could not be of more direct help, but I believe this should at least head you in the right direction to some great resources that can get you the info you need.
Hope this helps.
